Rustic 1/3 lb Classic Burger

A good burger doesn’t need much. Just quality beef, a hot grill or cast iron skillet, and the right seasoning. This rustic 1/3-pound burger is built to highlight the bold flavor of beef with our handcrafted Classic Burger Rub

Materials

Instructions

Form the Patty

  • Gently form the ground beef into a 1/3-pound patty, about ¾ inch thick.
  • Press a small indentation in the center to prevent puffing while cooking.

Season

  • Sprinkle Classic Burger Rub evenly over both sides of the patty.
  • Let the burger sit for 5 minutes while the grill or skillet heats.

Cook the Burger

  • Cook the Burger
  • Grill Method
  • Heat grill to medium-high (450°F)
  • Cook 3–4 minutes per side
  • Add cheese during the last minute.
  • Cast Iron Method (Rustic Favorite)
  • Heat the skillet over medium-high heat
  • Add burger and cook 3–4 minutes per side
  • Add cheese and cover briefly to melt.

Toast the Bun

  • Butter the cut sides of the bun, then toast in a skillet or on the grill until golden.

Build the Burger

  • Bottom bun
  • → mayonnaise
  • → burger patty
  • → cheese
  • → tomato
  • → red onion
  • → pickles
  • → top bun

Notes

For extra rustic flavor, cook the burger in a cast-iron skillet with a small pat of butter. It creates a beautiful crust and deep beef flavor.
